The Legacy of Bill Gothard's Cult
Kettle Hill Productions presents
A Documentary
Featuring Interviews from ATI/IBLP Alumni

About the Project

This project is for anyone who grew up in a religiously repressive home. While the documentary itself will focus specifically on the students of the Advanced Training Institute, the Institute in Basic Life Principles, and the teachings of Bill Gothard, the scope of this project is wider than this single lens.

We are considering the idea of addressing the Patriarchy, Purity, and similar movements through a series of webisodes or a follow-up documentary. We want to dig into Fundamentalism in America and the devastating effects it has had on women and men alike.

About the Film-maker

Abby DeHaan was first introduced to IBLP when her parents attended the Basic Seminar taught by Bill Gothard. Her parents enrolled the family in the Advanced Training Institute (ATI) and were involved in the Institute for 10 years. At the end of her time with ATI/IBLP, Abby spent a year working in the video department at the ATI/IBLP Headquarters in Oakbrook, IL. Since then, Abby has had 15 year experience producing, directing, filming, and editing short and feature films, documentaries, and corporate videos.

Current Status of the Project

The project currently has verbal commitment of support from a producer. We are waiting for the funds to be confirmed and delivered. In the meantime, we are collecting names of people who would like to be interviewed. If you would like to be interviewed for the documentary or subsequent webisodes, please click here to fill out and submit a form indicating your willingness to be a part of the project.
